About the Mission
HANG ON THERE..
The mission of Youth Wellbeing Initiative is to provide support in treatment, prevention and control of NCDs in children and young adults through enhanced surveillance, research, advocacy, youth involvement and community participation as well as combined and coordinated responses among policy makers.
THE VISION
A generation free of Non Communicable Diseases.
WHY US!
“We are fully dedicated to playing a significant role in the implementation of both Global and National Non-Communicable Diseases Strategic Plans, as outlined below. Non-communicable diseases (NCDs), including cardiovascular diseases, cancer, chronic respiratory diseases, and diabetes mellitus, are long-term health conditions influenced by various factors such as environmental, genetic, physiological, and behavioral aspects. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), NCDs claim the lives of more than 36 million individuals annually, accounting for over 60% of global deaths. Projections indicate that by 2030, NCDs will surpass infectious diseases as the primary cause of illness and mortality. Particularly concerning is the increasing impact of NCDs on children and young adults in developing nations like Tanzania. With a median age of 17.7 years and over 44.8% of the population under 15, our focus remains on addressing the needs of this vulnerable demographic.”
